Central Cafe

Central Café consisted of the renovation of 2,000 square foot existing building with the addition of a patio. The original building was used as an auto-repair shop. VFLA worked off the existing structures and added a covered drive-through window in the existing car wash drive.

The overall concept for Central Café was French Industrial. The clients wanted texture, open industrial ceilings, and a sophisticated color pallet. To add texture, two brick veneer walls were added to the interior of the open area. To make the brick look more French Industrial, VFLA added a ‘German Schmear’ which consisted of adding plaster to areas and cleaning some off so the brick wall looked historic in nature. Oversized pendant light fixtures filled the proportion of the 14’ tall ceilings while tin tile lined the face of the bar to act as a focal point from the entrance. To occupy the tall wall space, VFLA added ornate casework behind the coffee bar that displays the menu, decorative items, and adds area for concealed storage.

The outdoor patio was shielded from the Cheyenne wind with horizontal lumber slats painted to match the building. The overall color pallet of the exterior was all grey with black and white details. Overall, Central Café feels comfortable, approachable, and has the essence of French Industrial throughout.
