Alive was designed to offer a complimentary, modern experience options to members accustomed to the traditional health club atmosphere. This cutting-edge, technology-based facility open 24/7/365 complete with 1,500 virtual classes and contemporary design elements offering a step into the future – the concept is to cater to the millennial generation’s increasing use of technology to accomplish fitness goals.

Taking advantage of the existing building’s large space and volume, zones were established for various forms of exercise including a spacious Cardio and free weight areas along with (2) large ‘virtual exercise’ studios.
The check-in area offers community tables equipped with wireless charging technology and a focal wood-planked wall that displays the ‘ALIVE’ branding. ‘Floating’ gypsum ceilings add a weightless, airy perception, mimicking flooring paths below. Low height walls separate areas while providing wayfinding and preserving an ‘open’ atmosphere.

With the multiple zones and activities, acoustics played an important role in maximizing the experience. Attention was made to adjacent activities in our space planning, as well as careful attention to wall construction components and height of demising walls constructed between activities.

Finishes were kept simple and clean- white walls and ceilings accented with dark exposed ceilings to add drama and volume to the awakening space. The design incorporates a two-tone stained concrete floor design that that subtly delineates boundaries within large expanses but also creates way-finding for guests.
