“Biophilia” is defined as “the inherent human inclination to affiliate with nature.” Biophilic design, then, “incorporates natural materials, natural light, vegetation, views of natural surroundings, and other experiences of the natural world into the modern built environment.” This delightful retreat, nestled into the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, is an incredible example of this design approach—all with the luxury and comfort of modern architecture and construction.

Expansive walls of glass, clear story windows, and Douglas Fir tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling all amplify the picturesque views of the home’s serene site, while flooding every space with an abundance of natural light. From the exterior’s cedar soffit and boulder walls to the interior’s concrete floor and live-edge natural-wood kitchen bar counter, each and every element was thoughtfully designed to complement a natural color palette and echo the surrounding landscape.
